Mental Health Awareness Month
Your Guide to Mental Health Awareness Month at UCSC
This May, Student Health Outreach & Promotion (SHOP) and Counseling and Psychological Services (CAPS)—part of UC Santa Cruz Student Health Services—are proud to host a series of events in recognition of Mental Health Awareness Month.
This national observance is dedicated to increasing awareness of the vital role mental health plays in overall well-being, reducing stigma, and promoting accessible, compassionate care for all. It’s a time to reflect, connect, and take meaningful steps toward supporting ourselves and our community.
Students are invited to participate in a variety of campus-wide activities focused on mental health, resilience, and wellness.
Whether you’re looking to explore strategies for self-care, support a friend, or learn about campus mental health resources, there’s something for everyone.
Featured events include:
- Guided wellness walks
- QPR suicide prevention trainings (Question, Persuade, Refer)
- Peer-led tabling and outreach events
- CAPS PEP podcast – streaming now on Spotify
- Street Interviews with Maya – a new CAPS social media series
These events are brought to you by the SHOP Mental Health Promotion Team and CAPS Peer Educators.
